Day 45
Aside from his typical early morning, neuro storming event, Charles had another good night last night with his nurse Francis. He is currently settled in very comfortably with healthy vitals.
Yesterday afternoon, Charlos was active with his siblings and his sister-in-law, Lyndsay in the room. He was moving his head forward like he done all day and opening his eyes in their direction. He also, for the first time to any of our knowledge, had a great big yawn to the point Timo thought the rubber bands holding his jaw shut we’re going to break!
Today’s day shift nurse, Adnan, said they plan on removing the rubber bands today to give him more freedom there. The brace type attachments on his teeth will be removed later by another physician.
Charlos continues to breathe well on his own with no ventilator help. At the time of the writing of this message, Los is at 64 hours and 5 minutes of breathing on his own; we are confident he will continue this pattern.
Though Los has not come to full consciousness, we did see signs yesterday of more attempts to wake up and engage with others. He did do a lot of raising of his head off his pillow toward our voices. Sylvia found that if she held his right hand up, he would lean in more and attempt to open his eyes; very exciting progress. His digestive tract continues to normalize more daily, which is also a very good and healthy sign.
Please continue to pray that Charlos’ recovery continues to advance so that he can move onto his next step of rehabilitation as soon as possible. With this, we are praying that the doctors make the proper adjustments to his medication’s and treatment plan.
Would like to express our continued thanks to all of you who continue support with your prayers and words of encouragement; it all really does make a difference!
With much love and many blessings,
Charlos’ Family
