Charlos Update July 15 2025
Updates from Charles (Los’ dad) Day 52 (including days 49, 50,51) Good morning from Charlos’s room…. Below I have dated each day, and the previous afternoon/evening’s activities in hopes you can follow Los’s progress Saturday afternoon, July 12, Day 49 (7 weeks) Charlos’s sister, Sylvia, was able to reach his neurologist from this hospital and clearly relay our family’s goals for Charlos and our plan for his next big step of intense rehab. Sylvia also asked if he was OK with us sitting up on the side of the bed, (with support) to allow his feet to hang over [...]
Charlos Update July 12 2025
Day 49 Yes, today, marks seven weeks since Charlos’s accident. It is hard to believe we’ve been here this long; we’ve seen so much improvement and have so much yo be thankful for! Let’s remember to be thankful to the Lord that Los is still here with us, fighting with us and that he is improving every day. Yesterday was another busy day for Charlos with visitors and activity. We had lots of friends and family stop by over the course of the day to visit with him, pray with him, and us, and just genuinely love on him. [...]
Charlos Update July 10 2025
Day 47 Overall, Charlos had a good day yesterday as we had a fair amount of interaction with the administration here and with the new facility regarding timing and logistics for the next move. Just to verify all is well, one of the doctors ordered a CT scan for Charlos today and results came back negative for any problems so that was great news. Los had minimal storming yesterday but a lot of interaction with his eyes opening closing and looking at us which was exciting. He also opened his mouth about 7 times throughout the day & evening [...]
Charlos Update July 9 2025
Day 46 Good morning! Charlos had a tough night of neuro storming with sweating and elevated vitals but no real high fever for which we are thankful! Currently, Los has been resting for the past 3+ hours, sweating has stopped, and his vitals are stable and read well. Our big win yesterday was that Los passed the 72-hour mark of being off his ventilator; they even removed it from his room! He is now at 89 hours ‘ventilator free’ and breathing strong at 28% oxygen which is the lowest setting for this system; we all breathe at 21% oxygen [...]
Charlos Update July 8 2025
Day 45 Aside from his typical early morning, neuro storming event, Charles had another good night last night with his nurse Francis. He is currently settled in very comfortably with healthy vitals. Yesterday afternoon, Charlos was active with his siblings and his sister-in-law, Lyndsay in the room. He was moving his head forward like he done all day and opening his eyes in their direction. He also, for the first time to any of our knowledge, had a great big yawn to the point Timo thought the rubber bands holding his jaw shut we’re going to break! Today’s day [...]
