Charlos Update July 7 2025

Day 44 Charlos had a good night with his nurse Frances, she told me he hardly stirred and maintained good vital readings, even though the doctors have reduced the amounts of key medications. Praise the Lord also that his digestive track seems to be working mostly normal now. thank you for your prayers regarding this! Charlos remains calm with little to no neuro storming or posturing through all of his repositioning, bathing, receiving medications, suctioning his trachea, cleaning his mouth, PT, and general care. This shows progress and healing. The physical therapy (PT) team has been working with Los [...]

Charlos Update July 6, 2025

Day 43 Hey ya’ll, happy Sunday! Charlos had a good, restful night and is very calm this morning with good vitals; very encouraging. Yesterday, the pulmonary doctor had Charlos taken off the CPAP ventilator mode and he is now breathing on his own with an oxygen ‘T-bar bypass’ support system. Basically, he has 40% oxygen passing in front of his trachea while he breathes on his own through his trachea. Currently, he has been off of the ventilator for over 16 hours with no problem; this is also very encouraging because this is a big step in the ventilator [...]

Charlos Update July 5, 2025

Day 42 Charlos is resting peaceful and calm this morning after a good night here with John, his night nurse. John said that Charlos was without fever all night had good bowel movements. We have come to determine, along with the medical team, that Charlos’ Neuro-storming is generally a result of some type of discomfort like constipation, muscle aches, pressure on his right hip or other sensitive areas. Today we expect to go back on the CPAP setting on his ventilator. We’re praying the time on this setting increases beyond yesterday’s eight hours to 12 or more hours today. [...]

Charlos Update July 4, 2025

July 3 & 4 UPDATE from Los’s dad, Charles: Los is enjoying Fourth of July restfully in his new hospital bed with a normal temperature, no storming, and in good care. Los arrived here Wednesday evening and was bathed & made comfortable right after he arrived. He was resting well when we got to his room. Yesterday, Los rested most of the day after a couple hours of early morning storming. His neurologist ordered an in-room EEG just to ensure there was nothing negative going on with his brain; that will be read later today or on Monday. 🙏 [...]

Charlos Update July 3, 2025

Day 40 update Los has settled in well to the new facility (Kindred Hospital, which is a LTACH in Westminster - north OC).    Los has been a bit sleepy and groggy from the meds they needed to give him for the hospital transfer process (main priority of keeping him comfortable and calm during the transfer from Mission to Kindred Westminster).   But that should start to soon wear off and allow Los to pick up where he left off at Mission — working on movement, initial leg and arm physical therapy, and getting him off the ventilator and back onto [...]
