An update from Timo Bentley, Charlos’ brother Timo: Hey guys here’s is an update on my brother Charlos who got hit by a drunk driver on the side of the road while loading his truck for a beach day in front of his home. This is day 29 of Los being in the ICU and in a coma. We are on the road to recovery and every single prayer is helping him grow stronger and stronger. Update from Charles Bentley (Los’ dad): Los was calm most of last night with minimum posturing until about 4 AM. It was then he became somewhat restless with storming coming and going but not too intense. Also, he made it through the night without relaxation medication! Los’ color is good and improving! Our day nurse Christine, said she sees a lot of improvement since just yesterday Charlos is still not back on the CPAP setting for his ventilator, but this is to help limit unnecessary stress for him to work through although he does continue to ‘breathe over’ his [...]

A pretty good, calm night for Los, as he remains in the coma.  Dex (sedation med) remained off most of the night.  It went on briefly to help with a neuro-storming episode before being turned off.    And is still off this morning. Los went back on the ventilator last night, after a strong 24+ hrs. on it the day prior. CPAP will be going back on later this morning. Report from night nurse was that Los had an OK night. Two larger storming episodes that they had to help him work through. Dex (sedation med) is on at 0.4 as of this morning. Pretty similar to yesterday — with prayer-focus and main goals of the nurses and doctors remaining the same…. Another night of working through some neurological storming.   CPAP left on all night, and still going.  Good news and great progress on the respiratory CPAP side of things!  But still, some work to do on the neuro-storming and finding the balance of meds for Los to be able to rest / heal and get through this part of the recovery journey. This morning, so far, Los has been resting comfortably with some occasional mild storming off and on, which he is settling back / recovering from on his own.  Fever this morning has subsided back down to 98-99 range.
